The first day I went to campus, I took a rickshaw. The second day, all the rickshaw-walas were on strike to protest electronic metering, and it was really hard to get around. Between trying to find a taxi and walking, it took more than twice as long, and was much more tiring.
The rickshaws have been banned from the city of Mumbai because of noise and pollution, but are still there in the suburbs. "Suburbs" refers to everything north of Mumbai proper, although they are still extremely urban places.
